As we already know, Conor McGregor is arguably the biggest name in the MMA world. However, his recent performances inside the Octagon have not turned out in his favor. Nevertheless, the BMF champion Justin Gaethje seemed to recognize the accomplishments of the Irishman and mentioned his knockout record, leading fans to share their reactions on social media.
A few months ago, Conor McGregor called out Justin Gaethje for the BMF title. Even though ‘The Highlight’ verbally agreed to fight him, he mentioned how ‘The Notorious’ turned him down at least six times in the past. This is one reason why Gaethje may not have much love for McGregor but has all the respect for the former double champion’s accolades. Let’s see what he had to say.

Justin Gaethje claims Conor McGregor can match his KO record
The BMF champion tweeted about knockout wins recently. Justin Gaethje, who is known for handing out brutal KO defeats to his opponent, initially claimed that heavyweight star Derrick Lewis is the only fighter who can match him in knockouts. After all, ‘The Black Beast’ has the most KOs in the UFC’s history. Gaethje tweeted, “Only [Derrick Lewis] can match me in KO’s.” But later, he added another name as well.

Conor McGregor is known for winning the majority of his fights via knockouts. Furthermore, he also has 19 career knockouts to his name. As such, Justin Gaethje believed that he should give McGregor his due and added him along with Derrick Lewis among the best KO artists. “Correction [Derrick Lewis] & [Conor McGregor]. The fans on social media took notice of what Justin Gaethje had to say about Conor McGregor. In the end, most fans just wanted to see him get a good paycheck and fight the Irishman inside the Octagon.

There were some fans who were opposed to the idea of ‘The Highlight’ taking on the Irishman, claiming that he’d keep him waiting for a long time.

But some fans were disappointed with Justin Gaethje for not naming Charles Oliveira, who knocked him out when they fought with each other.

Justin Gaethje clearly put his personal feelings aside to acknowledge what Conor McGregor has achieved throughout his entire career. But it remains to be seen if we ever get to see them fight each other in the future. But for now, Gaethje will be focussing on his UFC 300 fight against Max Holloway as we wait to see how that pans out.
