Tony Ferguson is back in action. He takes on Bobby Green at UFC 291 in a scintillating affair. ‘El Cucuy’ made an appearance on the media day recently to address his retirement rumors. The lightweight veteran dismissed those rumors and even revealed his future plans in the UFC. However, the fans were not very pleased to hear what he had in mind.

Ferguson has a pretty good 26-8 MMA record. However, he has suffered losses in his last five fights against some of the best contenders in the lightweight division. He also got removed from the UFC rankings. But ‘El Cucuy’ doesn’t plan to leave the sport anytime soon. Let us see what he had to say about his UFC career.

‘El Cucuy’ appears to be positive as he gears up to fight Bobby Green this weekend. He believes that he’s just starting to reach his prime as a fighter. Ferguson said, “I want to be real with you guys. It’s always been cool and I feel, at this point in time in my life, I’m just barely hitting my prime.”

Furthermore, the former interim champion also addressed the rumors surrounding his career. Ferguson isn’t retiring anytime soon. He clapped back at those people who were claiming that he might be done fighting due to the string of losses. ‘El Cucuy’ is already 39 years old. However, that’s not the case. Ferguson added, “They could propose, they could say, ‘Oh, Tony’s going whatever, he’s going to retire’. No, motherf**ers. F** you.” 

It is up to him to make the decision on when to give up fighting. However, Ferguson understands that there are certain things he’ll need to do in order to achieve the things he has planned for himself. He added, “I am gonna be done when I want to be done.” The TUF 13 winner surprised everyone when he said that he wanted to fight for the title once more. “Five fights and a title, baby!” Let us take a look at what the fans had to say.

The fans were seriously concerned about Tony Ferguson’s UFC plans. They all want him to be safe and healthy after all the punishment he’d taken over the years.

Some fans also stated that Ferguson isn’t a top contender in the lightweight division anymore after his recent performances. Moreover, they are convinced that a loss against Bobby Green may result in him leaving the UFC.

  • I hope he isn’t broke… he know damn well he can’t compete at that level anymore
  • If he loses to Bobby Green, he will be fighting in Combate Americas next month…

The fans compared ‘El Cucuy’ and Green, claiming that the latter is much younger and faster than the former. They also stated that if Ferguson performs the same way he did against Nate Diaz, there is no way that he wins. Furthermore, they have urged ‘King’ to end the fight quickly.

Tony Ferguson admitted to the fact that he didn’t take his last couple of fights as seriously as he should. However, he also admitted to having set up a business as a part of his retirement plans.
