The combat sports world is a crazy place. Here, the champions or reputed ones are always up for challenges. Being reputed in the combat sports world makes a person the target of others who plan to take his/her place. The same happened recently as the noted kickboxer and MMA fighter Bob Sapp called out the legendary Mike Tyson and the UFC’s color commentator, Joe Rogan. Sapp put out a video of him challenging ‘Iron Mike’ for a fight. He also suggested an update for ‘The Joe Rogan Podcast’.

It is pertinent to note that Bob Sapp had also called out Mike Tyson previously in 2003. But even after Tyson getting in the ring to confront Sapp, the fight didn’t actually happen. Tyson, with his glorious achievements, apparently moved over Sapp. But Sapp, not having a taste of success that much, is still not over that Mike Tyson callout.

Bob Sapp calls out Joe Rogan and threatens to rip Mike Tyson’s heart out

Sapp started off the video, saying, Mike, if you fight me, I will rip your heart out and tear it to shreds, and it still applies.” It was apparent that he was still carrying that bad blood in his veins.

He also addressed The JRE host, saying, Joe, I’ve got a little more than a six-pack”. Rogan is known for maintaining a jacked-up physique even at 55 years of age. Sapp went on to show that he actually has more than six packs and asked Rogan to “update his show”.

Turning to Tyson once more, he stated, “As for you Mike, I got a challenge for you”.

He also made a mocking imitation of Tyson saying, I’m so scared, I bit into this guy and that guy and this guy” before he presented his actual challenge. He said, “Since you’ve stopped running, listen to me for a second”.

Is Mike Tyson scared to fight Bob Sapp?

Sapp went on to iterate, You and me and 2 of my best fighters versus 2 of your best fighters. Stand Up, Marcus of Queen Bury rules,”. He even derided Tyson, saying, “Because you’re too scared to fight one on one. I’ll take all of you on Punk Boxers”

He further mocked Tyson, saying, “I like little Michael” four times. Sapp finally concluded, That’s my challenge. You know my age. Fight me or my crew”.

Although there has been no response from Rogan or Tyson about this callout, it’s probably safe to say that Tyson won’t be scared to fight Bob Sapp. ‘Iron Mike’ has given up fighting a long time ago and now is more of a spiritual person.

But, this change of character shouldn’t be confused with him being scared. He is still fit enough to knock the lights out of anyone with a single blow.

The coveted scrap between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson in 2002 was when I realized the passion for combat sports within my family. My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
