Boxing Legend Teddy Atlas Dubs UFC 275 as ‘Thrilla in Singapore’; Compares It to ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’ and ‘Thrilla in Manila’

UFC 275 was the first-ever pay-per-view event that took place inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. The event featured two amazing title fights in the main and co-main event.
The event saw Jiri Prochazka submit Glover Teixeira via a rear-naked choke with just 28 seconds remaining in the last round to become the new light heavyweight champion.

Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko delivered a stunner to defend her flyweight title against Taila Santos. The other fights on the card also displayed some good actions.
One was the UFC strawweight bout where former champion Zhang Weili defeated one of the best women’s fighters, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, via a knockout. UFC 275 surely lived up to the hype as it delivered some of the best fights of this year.
Therefore, boxing legend Teddy Atlas compared it with one of the greatest fights in combat sports history.
In his podcast, THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas, the boxing legend said, “You remember the Thrilla in Manilla Ken. This was the Thrilla in Singapore, okay. I mean, this was deserving of having its own title. For like they gave the title of these great fights, you know.”

“The rumble in the jungle this that all these different fights. The fight of the century. First Frazier- Ali fight, but this deserves a title. That’s how good it was, that’s how special it was. That’s how magnificent it was,” Atlas concluded.

Both the men took it to the distance. However, ‘DJ’ dominated the challenger on the mat and quickly caught him in an arm bar. Horiguchi tapped out at the 4:59 minute mark. The fight ended just one second before the final bell, making an amazing record in the promotion.
