The news was first broken out by Brett Okamoto of ESPN via Twitter. He wrote, “The Brazilian champ officially has his next assignment. Glover Teixeira (@gloverteixeira) vs. Jiri Prochazka (@jiri_bjp) is a go for UFC 274 on May 7. Tough first title defense, but Glover’s entire road to this title has been tough.”

The 42-year-old Teixeira took the belt from former champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267 after he submitted ‘The Polish Power’ in the 4th minute of the second round of their main event bout.

Jiri Prochazka is a 29-year-old Mixed Martial Artist who made his name on the MMA circuit with his incredible finish streak. ‘Denisa’, who has just claimed a single decision win, has earned a 25/28 wins via knockout. Currently, he is on a 10-fight knockout streak. Two of those have come in his two UFC fights.

On his debut at UFC 251, he destryed Volkan Oezdemir. Later, he dismantled former title challenger Dominick Reyes in  2021.

The matchmakers have elevated Prochazka to the top in what will be his third fight in the UFC. Although ‘Denisa’ is a newcomer in the UFC, he has had a great run outside of it with a 28-3-1 professional record.

However, the Czech will face a tough challenge against a wily veteran who will look to take away his vertical base and drag the fight to where he is stronger. Will the striker be able to thwart the grappler?
