Max “Blessed” Holloway put on a masterclass performance against Justin Gaethje at the historic UFC 300 event, ending “The Highlight” in the 4:59 second mark of the 5th round, securing the UFC BMF title. Holloway earned him a massive bonus of $600k for his performance and KO against Gaethje. However, his massive earning looks to have made him a target for his long-time friend, Daniel Cormier.

Daniel Cormier and Max Holloway, two longtime friends, have a history of taking playful jibes at each other. Holloway has called out ‘DC’ in the past to decide who the “Daddest Man On The Planet” is between them. But given that Cormier has now retired from the sport, he looks to be getting back at “Blessed” for all the call-outs over the past years.

The UFC BMF champion Max Holloway is one of the most liked personalities in the promotion and for good reason. Aside from his time inside the Octagon, the Hawaiian spends his time live-streaming to his fans. And on a recent live stream, Holloway called the former UFC double champ, Daniel Cormier as fans were questioning his reaction as Holloway knocked out Gaethje at the UFC 300 event.

While Joe Rogan and Jon Anik were jumping out of their seats in excitement, Cormier had his face buried in his hands, looking more worried than excited at the BMF fight’s KO finish. Many questioned if it was because of his friendship with Gaethje, but not Holloway. The new BMF understood where Cormier was coming from and ‘DC’ proved him right on the live stream.

An emotional Cormier explained, “Hey guys, I love Max, that’s my brother. I love Justin, that’s my brother. But I know the game… Your heart is filled with joy for your brother, and on the other side, you feel bad because we’ve all been there.”

However, Cormier also had a quick turnaround stating, “Hey Max, can I borrow $100K?… If me and max were really friends, he would give me a 100k”

However, it doesn’t seem like Cormier is the only one who is coming after the newly crowned BMF champion. The UFC featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria, has been keeping a close eye on “Blessed” ever since his callout for featherweight gold. Topuria even set out some terms to agree to Holloway’s callout. Max Holloway had a witty response to Topuria’s recent statements on “The MMA Hour”.

The BMF champ schools the UFC featherweight champ

The UFC featherweight champ, Ilia Topuria set out some terms for Holloway to agree to in a recent X post, threatening the Hawaiian that he would give featherweight contender, Brian Ortega the title shot instead of him if he were to disagree. However, the statement did not sit too well with the BMF champ, and his comments on the tweet put the Spaniard to shame.

During an interview with “MMA Fighting”, Holloway responded to Topuria’s comments. He stated, “That’s not a very ‘BMF’ way to say it. A ‘BMF’ wouldn’t say, ‘I’m not going to fight this guy unless…’ That’s kind of un-‘BMF.’ Doesn’t sound ‘BMF’ the way he’s trying to demand it and saying, ‘I’m not going to fight.’ A ‘BMF’ fights whatever, fights whoever, whenever, any weight, any time, and that’s not a tone of a ‘BMF.’”

Holloway vs. Topuria has gained some serious traction in the aftermath of UFC 300. One could even say that Topuria needs to fight Holloway more than the other way around. The former featherweight champion is now a ranked contender in two weight classes, and eligible for title shots at both of those divisions. The BMF belt is an added option for chasing high-profile fights, like Conor McGregor. Given his current run of form and his many options, do you think Holloway vs. Topuria happens next? Who would win that one? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
