ESPN MMA posted the announcement on Instagram on their page. They also revealed that the UFC would hold the fight on the fourth of September for the main event of UFC 266. Additionally, this will be the third time that the light heavyweight title is in contention within a year.

However, things weren’t always like this, and the division was in danger of stagnation. The former champion, Jon Jones, had defended his title 13 times. He had beaten everybody in his path and was looking invincible. Therefore, when he announced that he was moving up to heavyweight, things started looking up for the UFC.

The UFC announced that Jones’s last opponent, Dominick Reyes, would fight Polish powerhouse, Jan Blachowicz, for the title. The fight was set up to be a good one, and Reyes was the favorite. He had pushed Jones to the limit in their fight and almost won it.

However, Blachowicz had other plans, and dominated the contest from start to finish. He used his entire arsenal of kicks and punches to defeat Reyes via knockout in the second round. It was a statement win from a man who looked like a true champion.

However, it was not to be as Blachowicz dominated this fight too. There was some controversy around the final scores of the judges, but nobody had any doubts that the Polish powerhouse had won this fight. Interestingly, Blachowicz overpowered Adesanya on the ground with his wrestling and took the fight away from him.
