Top-ranked UFC middleweights Darren Till and Marvin Vettori will meet inside the Octagon on April 10. The fight will headline a UFC Fight Night event on the same date. The UFC hasn’t yet officially announced the event or the venue for the same.
ESPN first reported the news of the booking. As per their sources, verbal agreements are in place whereas the two fighters are yet to sign the contracts.
Darren Till is coming off a loss against former middleweight kingpin Robert Whittaker in July. The fight between the two was a striking chess match, with both of them taking very measured steps. Following the loss, the former welterweight title contender was supposed to fight Jack Hermansson on December 5. However, the Liverpool native had to withdraw on account of a knee injury.

Not so long ago, Till was the best young talent in the UFC. However, his undefeated run couldn’t get past the former welterweight champ, Tyron Woodley. In his very next fight, Jorge Masvidal knocked him out handing him his second straight defeat.
Following severe weight cuts in the lead up to his fights, Till moved up a weight class. He won his middleweight debut against Kelvin Gastelum, before falling to Robert Whittaker.
Marvin Vettori will prove to be a tough test for Darren Till
Marvin Vettori is enjoying one of the best stretches of his professional career. After dropping a split decision loss to current middleweight champ Israel Adesanya, Vettori has won four straight. During that stretch, Vettori has also called out almost every top 185-pounder for a fight.

His last outing was against Jack Hermansson in December. Vettori replaced his future opponent Till after the latter pulled out from the fight. Vettor’s win over submission specialist Hermansson earned him the right to enter the upper echelons of the middleweight rankings.

A southpaw, Vettori has been training under Rafael Cordeiro at Kings MMA since 2015. For the unacquainted, Cordeiro is the same coach who trained Mike Tyson ahead of his return against Roy Jones Jr. and has also trained a legion of successful UFC fighters. Training under one of the best minds in the game has helped Vettori maximize his physical gifts.

If Vettori comes out on top against Till, he wouldn’t be too far away from a title shot and a possible rematch against Adesanya.
