Brendan Allen shocked the world at UFC Vancouver! Given the kind of run Reinier de Ridder was on since his UFC debut, ‘All In’ put on such a dominant performance that the Dutchman resorted to quitting on the stool before the final round commenced. Now, Allen is getting into the title conversation and shared his thoughts on fighting Dricus du Plessis next.

‘Stillknocks’ lost his middleweight belt at UFC 319, and while Brendan Allen expressed his wish to fight Khamzat Chimaev, the Beaufort native isn’t opposed to fighting the former champion in his first fight since dropping the title. However, there’s just one uncertainty that Allen is concerned about, which is the return date of Dricus du Plessis.

“If that’s what it is, if that’s the timeline [I can fight DDP next] because I don’t know when he wants to return,” Brendan Allen stated in the post-fight press conference“For now, I’m just trying to get home to my family, take some time to mentally recoup.”

There’s a compelling story behind Dricus du Plessis and Brendan Allen’s UFC rivalry. After the latter’s loss to Anthony Hernandez earlier this year, ‘DDP’ decided to take a shot at Allen, insinuating that he would never come close to a title fight. “I can most certainly tell what ain’t next for a very long time,” du Plessis wrote on social media.

When discussing a potential fight against Dricus du Plessis, Brendan Allen mentioned how the South African star often trash-talks about him. Meanwhile, prior to his UFC Seattle fight, Allen took aim at ‘DDP’, highlighting a major flaw in the former champion’s record.

Brendan Allen once claimed that Dricus du Plessis picks his fights wisely

Brendan Allen, much like the rest of the UFC community, is amazed at Dricus du Plessis’s ability to find a win, even though he doesn’t have the conventional style, stance, and approach like other MMA fighters. However, Allen claims that the former middleweight champion has fought big names at a time when they weren’t in the best mental or physical shape to perform at their best capacity.

“He fights these guys that have such a great name, but look at the timeline that he fights them. He’s fighting them kind of when they’re not really motivated, on their way out, or just father time is getting to them,” Brendan Allen stated during a media scrum. “I just think he gets them at the best time. The best name at the best time.” Well, do you agree with Allen’s assessment of Dricus du Plessis?
