The UFC Vancouver prelims have been catching some serious heat. So far, four fights have ended in thrilling finishes, with only one going to the judges. Because of that, the fans inside Rogers Arena are buzzing with excitement. But no one expected Bruno Silva, who fought Park Hyun-sung, to bring back Khabib Nurmagomedov flashbacks with his performance.

Before this fight, Silva was in deep waters, desperate to bounce back from two brutal losses against Joshua Van and Manel Kape. So, tonight, his comeback was riding on this clash with Park, and the Brazilian flyweight grabbed the opportunity with both hands. From the opening round, Silva looked sharp with his striking. After escaping the South Korean’s taking the back attempt, Silva landed a vicious uppercut that instantly reminded everyone of ‘The Eagle.’ But why exactly?
At UFC on FX 7 back on January 19, 2013, Khabib Nurmagomedov famously knocked out Thiago Tavares with a brutal uppercut. So, when Silva connected with that same shot, Daniel Cormier quickly pointed out the resemblance on commentary, recalling the undefeated lightweight legend’s highlight finish. However, unlike Khabib, Bruno Silva didn’t seal the deal with that uppercut. Instead, he wrapped things up with a slick third-round rear-naked choke—an impressive way to silence his critics and mark his comeback in style.

Now, after this incredible win, the natural question is — what’s next for Bruno Silva? Well, the flyweight division is packed with talent right now, but the Brazilian wants a real challenge next. He’s not looking at the top 15 anymore! Silva is setting his sights on the top 10 contenders.

Bruno Silva targets top 10 flyweights after UFC Vancouver win
Bruno Silva suffered a tough loss in his last fight against Joshua Van at UFC 316. However, that defeat aged pretty well, as Van is now set to challenge flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 323. With that in mind, the Brazilian flyweight understands that his comeback could push him closer to a future title shot, and now, he’s ready to take on a top-10 opponent next.
At the UFC Vancouver post-fight presser, he said, “Yeah, exactly… I need a top 10 (opponent) right now. You know, I deserve a top 10. I just fought against two contenders, probably the next two guys who will be champs one day. So, I deserve a top 10 right now, you know. I deserve to be in the top 10 spot for sure.”
It’s definitely commendable that Bruno Silva is asking for tougher competition next. And who knows? He might end up facing a top-10 opponent like Tim Elliott or Asu Almabayev soon. However, it’s also worth noting that Silva just picked up a win after suffering two back-to-back losses. Although those defeats came against top contenders, another victory over a top-15 name like Charles Johnson or Tagir Ulanbekov could better prepare him for the upper echelon of the division.
