From claiming the Earth is flat to slamming Joe Rogan for “pushing science,” Bryce Mitchell has built a reputation for being one of the most eccentric fighters in UFC history. And who could forget the time he nearly ripped off his scrotum with a drill?

Many within the community might not know this, but back when Bryce Mitchell was just 23, he suffered an injury that would even make the bravest of men squirm in discomfort. How? Well, what if we tell you he nearly ripped his private parts? Surprised? Well, that’s just who Bryce Mitchell is. Back in 2018, the Arkansas native was working with power tools to build or rebuild something, and he placed the drill inside his pocket without a single thought.

When the drill was accidentally turned on, it drilled straight through Mitchell’s skin and entangled his unmentionable in a painful affair. Mitchell had to reverse the drill to untangle his sack, however, the damage was done, and he rushed to the ER for assistance. In his own words, “So I was gunna train today, but I ripped my n****** in half. I’m bout to get stitched up. I was holding a board over my head with a drill in my pants. I was sizing up the board n the drill went off n tangled my n*** up n it. I dropped the board and reversed the drill and untangled my n****** but they was ripped n half.”

After making his statement on his Facebook handle, the featherweight took to his X to ascertain that he will be out of training for a few months. Absolutely wild story, right? Well, this one might rank up there on the list of bizarre injuries right next to Devin Powell’s infamous ruptured testicle incident while training with Joe Lauzon.

Fast forward to 2025—Bryce Mitchell is completely unhinged, and his upcoming fight is happening largely because of his controversial Hitler comments. The matchup between Mitchell and Jean Silva is now even more intriguing than the headlining fight itself. Reason? We all know that the fans want to see a bashing of Mitchell for his thoughtless comments and Jean Silva might be leading the crusade against him, but will the ‘Fighting Nerd’ knockout artist be able to hold his own against ‘Thug Nasty’?

Bryce Mitchell locks in on Jean Silva ahead of UFC 314

After defeating Melsik Baghdasaryan, Jean Silva challenged Bryce Mitchell for a fight, and the UFC booked him against ‘ThugNasty’ without any thought. Their rivalry is rooted in Mitchell’s comments on Hitler. You can think of it as one guy’s affection for the WW2 villain, and the other guy has vowed to beat him up for being absolute dumb.

Silva has vowed to disfigure the faces of all the featherweight contenders until he claims the 145 lbs belt, and Bryce Mitchell is the first ranked challenge he will face. However, for the first time ever, Mitchell remains silent while Silva pulls the strings. At the press conference, Mitchell emphasized that he is ready to kill: “I absolutely loved the press conference, I feel like the Holy Spirit was speaking through me. With my eyes, I conveyed the message that I’m ready to die and I’m ready to kill, and I said everything that I needed to in that faceoff with my eyes alone.”

He further emphasized that Jean Silva is being overconfident in his endeavor. “I see overconfidence,” Mitchell explained. “I see the younger man that I used to be.” Jean Silva has finished all of his opponents by way of a knockout since his UFC debut, and he is arguably the best fighter coming out of Brazil. However, with years of experience behind his back, Mitchell is confident of his victory.

Given that, who do you think will be the ultimate winner of the battle? Will it be another finish for Silva or will Mitchell hold his ground? State your thoughts in the comments below.
