Finally, the suspense about the UFC 288 co-main event came to an end. The UFC president, Dana White, made it clear that Gilbert Burns and Belal Muhammad would lock horns on May 6th at Prudential City in Newark, New Jersey. The main event will be between the current bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, and the former two-division champion, Henry Cejudo. Earlier, it was decided that the co-main event would be between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush. Unfortunately, Oliveira had to withdraw from the bout due to an undisclosed injury. This resulted in rumors surrounding the co-main event.

Now that there is an answer for everyone who was eagerly waiting for an interesting matchup, the rest of the MMA fighters and fans have already started to take sides. The UFC star, Kevin Holland, wants ‘Durinho’ to win the bout. He let his followers know about the same thing through his Twitter handle by sharing a “nightmarish” poster.

After the bout between ‘Durinho’ and ‘Remember the Name’ was announced, Holland took to social media and shared a hilarious poster with a face swap between Burns and Muhammad. Additionally, he referred to the fighters as “Belal Burns” and “Gilbert Muhammad”. Along with the poster, he wrote, “For those that don’t know Gilbert would help every fighter in 2020 get out of quarantine by burning chicken….. I really think he should open a chicken… spot called BURNS Chicken… I got Burns this fight!!!! Who y’all got? #BMF #stayactive #champ”

Behind the facade

After the bout between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush was cancelled, both Burns and Muhammad wanted to fight Colby Covington. The promotion ranked ‘Chaos’ first in the welterweight division, even after he had been out of the sport for nearly a year.

However, the UFC didn’t want either of them to fight Covington next. As per the decision of the UFC president Covington would fight against the current welterweight champion Leon Edwards, and the winner between ‘Durinho’ and ‘Remember the Name’ will be next in line.
