UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley defeated Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera in a striking masterclass at their UFC 299 contest earlier this year. After the one-sided win, ‘Suga’ called out newly minted featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, with whom he has been feuding online for his second title defense.

This upset Merab Dvalishvili, who is next in line for a bantamweight title shot, and was present in the arena for UFC 299. ‘The Machine’ was caught on camera expressing his frustration at O’Malley for refusing to call him out despite being his next challenger and even approached ‘Suga’ backstage and told him that he “should’ve said his name” (i.e., called him out in his post-fight octagon interview). ‘Suga’ did eventually call out Dvalishvili, who responded in a unique and amusing manner.

Merab Dvalishvili defeated Henry Cejudo in their UFC 298 co-main event bout to officially become the number-one contender for the bantamweight title. Which is why he was hoping Sean O’Malley would call him out.

While O’Malley didn’t call him out in his post-fight octagon interview, the 135-pound champion took to Twitter days later to call Dvalishvili out but made clear that he will face ‘The Machine’ in 2025. “I WANT MARAB. 2025 will be legendary ✌🏽” he tweeted.

However, the fact that the Montana native wanted to wait until next year despite not suffering any serious injuries in his UFC 299 bout, rubbed many the wrong way and they felt O’Malley was stalling since he did not want to face ‘The Machine’, who, at least on paper, is a stylistic nightmare for the champion.

And among these people is Dvalishvili himself, who showed his comedic chops and posted a hilarious skit mocking the champion. The skit featured a Sean O’Malley lookalike, with the theme being O’Malley is terrified at the prospect of facing Dvalishvili, hence his desire to fight Dvalishvili next year. “You can run … but you can’t hide. 🦾 #sixyearsofcallouts,” the Georgian captioned the video.

And these callouts seem to be getting under O’Malley’s skin, who took to his YouTube channel to give his side of the picture.

‘Suga’ warns Dvalishvili to be “careful what you wish for”

Sean O’Malley addressed the allegations of him wanting to avoid fighting Merab Dvalishvili due to the world-class wrestling abilities that the Georgian possesses. On his ‘TimboSugaShow’ with coach Tim Welch, ‘Suga’ promised that “Merab is f***ing next. His wish is granted. A lot of people said I’m ducking him. I just really am not ducking that little dude.”

O’Malley was also not worried about their stylistic matchup and claimed that “I like the fight for me,” and that “there’s multiple ways to win. I’m excited about the fight now finally.” O’Malley reiterated that “I was never ducking him” and that he was waiting for the “right time” to fight Dvalishvili, which was finally nigh. “Merab’s next, and careful what you wish for, buddy. Careful what you wish for,” hedas added.
