Amidst the ongoing betting controversy emerging from Isaac Dulgarian‘s UFC Vegas 110 fight, Hall of Famer Michael Bisping has given his two cents on the situation. Dana White recently revealed that they’re working with the FBI to get to the root of these illicit activities. The involvement of a federal institution in the investigation has fans believing that this is quite a significant issue for the UFC, but Michael Bisping is not sold on those claims.

Michael Bisping was there commenting when Isaac Dulgarian fought Yadier del Valle, and was surprised like the rest of the commentary team when he saw how easily the Cuban fighter got the better of him. But ‘The Count’s reaction had nothing to do with the betting situation. Here’s what he had to say.

Michael Bisping claims the controversy involving Isaac Dulgarian isn’t very ‘serious’
During an interview with MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn, Michael Bisping said, “Is it really the biggest story of the year? I don’t know. I think it’s getting blown way out of proportion.” That’s because he doesn’t think that such instances are widespread or constant in the UFC. Bisping maintains that he had no clue that something fishy was going on when Dulgarian lost to del Valle.
“I would have liked to have known [what was going on while I was commentating]. I would have kept an eye out for things, but I’ll be honest,” Michael Bisping continued. The Hall of Famer knew the level of skill that Isaac Dulgarian and Yadier del Valle brought to the cage. While the former is a good wrestler, his Cuban counterpart is an all-rounder who specializes in finishing his opponents. What surprised Bisping the most was the fact that despite having good wrestling, Dulgarian could not survive even one round.
“At the time… because I know Isaac Dulgarian. In his former fighters, he has been a very, very good wrestler. Yadier de Valle, the Cuban fella that he fought, is an absolute monster,” Michael Bisping further stated. “He’s a black belt in BJJ. He’s got really good judo. He’s a knockout artist, and he’s massive for the weight class. So, I remember at the time thinking, ‘Holy cow,’ you know, ‘Yadier is that good.”

The initial reaction from Bisping and the other commentators was about how good Yadier del Valle really is. And the Englishman still thinks he’s got a tremendous future ahead of him, and doesn’t think putting him into the mix, in this controversy, would be fair to the Cuban featherweight.
“I’m like, ‘Holy cow, look at this. He took the back very easily. He stopped the takedown, took the back, and choked him out in the first round. This kid must be great,'” Michael Bisping added. “When all this comes to light, it’s less impressive. But yeah, I didn’t know anything about it. And, at the time, I just remember thinking del Valle is the real deal. And he is the real deal… It should not reflect negatively on him.”

Isaac Dulgarian is no longer in the UFC after what went down last weekend. And for that, Michael Bisping sounded off on the featherweight fighter. ‘The Count’ believes that this incident really put his MMA career in jeopardy.

Bisping is irate with ‘idiot’ Dulgarian for throwing away his career
Isaac Dulgarian has only 9 fights in his pro MMA career, with a 7-2 record. Michael Bisping had no doubt that he would have grown into a better fighter with each passing fight in the UFC. As such, the Englishman couldn’t comprehend why Dulgarian chose to take the easy way of making a few thousand dollars. Bisping is certain that there is no coming back after this scandal.
“It’s kind of crazy that Isaac Dulgarian would do that. We don’t know the circumstances or whatever. It’s being fully investigated, so I’m sure the truth will come out, eventually. Such an idiot,” Michael Bisping further added. “A very promising young man, a great fighter, an excellent wrestling pedigree, and now he’s thrown away his career completely.”
The investigation is currently underway, and we are awaiting further updates. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts on Michael Bisping claiming that this isn’t as serious an issue as it sounds. Drop your comments below.
