Once considered one of the most dominant forces in MMA, Colby Covington’s career took a sudden downturn as back-to-back losses tarnished his relevance within the sport. Such is the life story of ‘Chaos’, whose path to greatness wasn’t an easy one, considering he was almost cut from promotion despite winning his fights. Moreover, when he did get to the top, the promotion threw three chances at Covington to win undisputed welterweight gold but he failed each time as he faced prime Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards. Recently, Covington tried to get past ‘New Mansa’ but failed in that endeavor as well. However, the MMA community is confident that things might turn out better for ‘Chaos’ next year.

The former interim welterweight champion took to his Instagram handle to share a photo of himself brandishing the new ‘Full Send’ merchandise, captioned with, “Santa brought me some fresh Full Send merch get yours now @shopfullsend.” His Instagram update witnessed a flurry of reaction from the fans stating that the next year might be a good one for ‘Chaos’.

Colby Covington’s last two fi͏g͏hts have been tough on him, ͏both physically and mentall͏y. ͏Last year, ‘Chaos’ s͏tepped into the͏ ͏Octa͏gon to͏ c͏hallenge t͏hen-cha͏mpion Leo͏n Edwards͏ for the w͏e͏lterweight ti͏tle. Well, a year after that, ‘Chaos’ stepped inside the Octagon to take on Joaquin ‘New Mansa’ Buckley. Ahead of the fight, Covington asserted that he would defeat the up-and-coming welterweight, however, he was wrong. Buckley completely dominated Covington to the extent that doctors had to stop the fight, citing concerns that ‘Chaos’ might lose his eyelashes due to injuries sustained over three rounds. Colby Covington is 2-4 in his last six fights under the UFC banner but despite that, the MMA community believes in him. Let’s see what fans had to say.

Colby Covington gets unwavering support ahead of 2025

Colby Covington’s last win was against Jorge Masvidal back in 2022 at UFC 272 and since then the fighter has yet to secure a victory under his name. As the past two years have been lackluster for ‘Chaos’, fans anticipate that the former interim welterweight champion can bounce back, “We literally want you to win. We all want that, please give it to us in 2025.” Despite the fact that Colby Covington has been riding losing streaks, some of the fans are utterly loyal to him. According to a social media user, Covington is the “People’s champ”

We might see some of the biggest fights within the welterweight division next year as the UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad will be defending his title against the number one contender Shavkat Rakhmonov. On top of that, we might witness the comeback of Leon Edwards after his loss at UFC 304. If everything goes well, the MMA community might witness a rematch between Edwards and Covington in the future. Or Covington might clash with Ian Garry with whom he’s had an ugly feud lately. Regardless, a fan anticipates a big year for him, “Big 2025.” Furthermore, another fan doubled down on Colby Covington’s comeback, “The Comeback will be greatness.”

The promotion gave Colby Covington three opportunities to win the welterweight title, but he failed each time. However, it is worth noting that he went the distance with Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman (the second time). This fact alone highlights the resilience and durability of ‘Chaos’. A curious fan wants another title run for ‘Chaos’, “Colby please one more title run.” Last but not least, a social media boldly stated, “Chaos coming back better than ever”

Colby Covington has a long road back to the title, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see him in fun fights. Furthermore, Jorge Masvidal is slated to return next year, so that could be a fun fight. Then there’s Gilbert Burns, who is on a three-fight skid. As of now, his fate has yet to be ascertained by UFC. Regardless, what’s your take on his career? State your thoughts in the comments below.
