UFC has returned to Perth for the fourth time in their history. This time, however, the promotion has made its Fight Night debut in the Western Australian city. As the main card is yet to begin, with Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes still set to collide, the prelims have already kicked off. There, one fight, in particular, ended with a bizarre request that left the referee stunned.

Alexander Volkanovski’s teammate Colby Thicknesse faced Congolese fighter Josias Musasa in the featured prelim of UFC Fight Night Perth. Many expected the fight to swing in Colby’s direction, but it turned out to be highly competitive, with Musasa even making a case to take the second round. However, it was the third round that truly became interesting.

Spotting an opening to the body, ‘Slickness’ unleashed a series of kicks to the midsection, but one of them strayed low to the groin area. Naturally, Musasa went down to the mat in visible pain, but what stunned everyone was his unusual request — asking the referee, “Can I pee?” right in the middle of the paused action. The official declined, telling him to wait until after. The Congo fighter took 4:23 off the clock to recover before continuing the bout. Once the final bell rang, the judges scored the fight in favor of Thicknesse.

Although low blows are definitely most of the time an unintentional part of the game, a fighter asking to go “pee” in the middle of the fight is a rare sight. Well, as the video started making rounds on the internet, fans quickly flocked to share their reactions to the moment. From light trolling and banter to even calls for cutting, netizens had every sort of response. Let’s check them out.

Fans react to UFC Perth fighter’s bizarre in-fight demand after brutal low blow

One fan chimed in with a very valid question, “What did he think they were gonna say?” Although Josias Musasa was in pain from the low blow and also in urgent need to use the facilities, it was simultaneously true that he was in a fight. And the referee obviously wouldn’t have allowed him to go. However, another user offered a highly bizarre solution to this problem.

The user wrote, “He should have just peed in his shorts lol.” That definitely wouldn’t have been a sight fans inside the Accor Arena would’ve anticipated. That’s not all. Another fan simply demanded, “He deserves to get cut just for asking this.” Imagine Dana White cutting a fighter just for asking the referee to go relieve himself mid-fight. That would’ve been the most bizarre firing of all time. Another user just couldn’t contain their amusement and wrote, “Hahaha. That’s a first. 🤣🤣🤣🤣”

Now, while most of the reactions were directed at the Congolese fighter, his opponent wasn’t completely spared from criticism either. Although Colby Thicknesse won the fight, he too received backlash for his performance. One very critical fan wrote, “If Colby Thicknesse didn’t fight with a broken leg from round one onwards, he is maybe the worst stand-up fighter I have ever witnessed at bantamweight in the UFC. This is who people gassed up Aleksandre Topuria for beating?”

For the unversed, Colby fought Ilia Topuria’s older brother, Aleksandre Topuria, at UFC 312, losing via unanimous decision. The Aussie is also Alexander Volkanovski’s teammate, which added more storylines to this bout. So, the user’s comment essentially targeted ‘Slickness’ for not living up to the hype, while also throwing shade at Topuria for defeating him.

That being said, UFC Perth has actually been thriving and surviving well despite multiple cancellations and bout order changes. Do you think the event has delivered so far? Will it get better as we move toward the main event? Let us know in the comments section below.
