Charles Jourdain delivered a stunning first-round finish over Davey Grant in front of his home crowd at UFC Fight Night 262 in Vancouver. From the opening bell, Grant pressured forward, chopping at Jourdain’s legs and controlling the center of the cage. Jourdain, fighting from the southpaw stance, answered with sharp kicks and quick combinations, keeping the Englishman at bay. 

Midway through the round, Charles Jourdain exploded with a perfectly timed flying knee that smashed Davey Grant square in the face, dropping him instantly. Seizing the moment, Jourdain followed with heavy ground-and-pound before snatching up a tight guillotine choke as Grant tried to recover. Confident in his grip, Jourdain began celebrating before the tap came seconds later. 

Charles Jourdain wants Marcus McGhee next

The official stoppage came at 3:05 of Round 1, marking Jourdain’s second straight win by guillotine choke and a statement performance that could earn him a ranked opponent in the bantamweight division. In the aftermath of the fight, he called out Marcus McGhee, as reported by Nolan King. “Charles Jourdain calls out Marcus McGhee.”

Marcus McGhee is, of course, coming off a unanimous decision loss to Petr Yan in July this year. This fight will be a great opportunity for McGhee to bounce back from the loss and move up in the bantamweight rankings. Regardless, ‘Air’ Jourdain’s finish became the talk of the town on X after Ariel Helwani shared a clip of the finish.

Fans left stunned with spectacular finish

One user was impressed with Grant, who survived the knee to the face. The user wrote, “I don’t know how hw survived that knee.” Even though Grant survived the knee, Jourdain didn’t let the fight last long.

Another felt that Jourdain had a bright future in the bantamweight division. The user claimed, “Charles is something at 135, beautiful job.” Another win can bring him into the top 10 bantamweights. 

A third user had similar feelings about Jourdain. The user chimed in, writing, “Charles Jourdain is a f—ing PROBLEM at 135lbs dear lord.” Yet, it’s just his debut in the division—only time will tell how good he really is.

Someone else praised Jourdain for his debut performance. The user wrote, “CHARLES JOURDAIN, TAKE A BOW! A flying knee knockdown into a guillotine finish on home soil is nothing short of brilliance.” It was a picture-perfect finish, especially after suffering two losses last year.

Meanwhile, this user commented on Jourdain’s choice of next opponent. “I would prefer Jourdain vs Bryce MitchellI guess the move down was the right move,” the user wrote. Bryce Mitchell doesn’t appear to have an opponent lined up, so a fight is not out of the realm of possibility.

Having said that, Charles Jourdain has managed to impress fans with his spectacular finish in his debut fight at bantamweight. However, the question is, can he continue dominating the division?
