UFC welterweight Stephen Thompson is raring to go again. The number 5 ranked welterweight last entered the octagon against Gilbert Burns at UFC 264. He lost the fight via a unanimous decision.

His last fight was for four months ago, and according to ‘Wonderboy,’ he’s ready to fight again. He recently announced that he has agreed to a fight. However, nothing else is confirmed.

He said, “Plan is to fight before the end of the year. I’ve agreed to fight somebody. We’ll see if they agree as well. But yeah, I got some big news coming up. Can’t say anything yet, because nothing is signed. Can’t say who, where, when. But you got some good news from me coming up. It’s going to be a good fight, man. I’m excited if he takes it.”

Thompson is coming off a loss in his previous fight. And according to him, he has agreed to a new fight but can’t say anything else. Almost every top fighter in the division is booked to fight somebody. The champion Kamaru Usman will defend his belt against Colby Covington at UFC 268. Leon Edwards will take on Jorge Masvidal at UFC 269, and Burns and Luque are someone Thompson has recently fought.

Michael Chiesa, who is ranked immediately below Thompson, is slated to take on Sean Brady at UFC Fight Night 198. A matchup between him and the number 8 ranked Neil Magny is something UFC can consider. Magny has been itching for a fight, and recently even called out Khamzat Chimaev for a fight. ‘The Haitian Sensation‘ has not fought since May 2021, and a fight between these two could be very exciting.

Belal Muhammad is another fighter that can make for a good option against Stephen Thompson. ‘Bully B’ is undefeated in his last six fights, and a fight against ‘Wonderboy’ will be good, as it can help him break into the top 5. And then there’s Khamzat Chimaev. UFC’s newest sensation. ‘Borz‘ is undefeated in his MMA career, and has recently broken into the top 10. He recently dominated Li Jingliang and is the talk of the town right now.
