Dana White recently gave the green signal to Carla Esparza, to take on Rose Namajunas for the women’s strawweight title. This matchup will be their second confrontation. Previously, the two clashed for the Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. In which ‘Thug Rose’ tasted defeat by a rear-naked-choke.

Recently, ‘Cookie Monster’ has been very vocal about getting the title shot since her sensational victory over Xiaonan Yan. Carlos demanded the rematch after ending Yan with a barge of punches in the second round.

Although Dana was initially reluctant about the rematch, he now seems to be targeting the title match for next year. As of now, White and the UFC brass have not settled on a date or a venue for the grand event, but Esparza hopes the fight to be conducted before may.

In a recent interview with MMA fighting, Carla shared about her upcoming wedding next year. She said, “In all reality, it would be ideal to have this fight before May. That is my ideal timeline.” She also appreciated Rose for being fit to fight as soon as possible.

Carla also added, “If it doesn’t, I’m completely willing to change the date of my wedding, and everyone who’s on my wedding list is my friend and they would 100 percent understand. My fiancé, we’re getting married, no matter what. We’re going to be together forever, so the date, being a couple of months later, doesn’t change things. This title fight is the priority right now.”

Both the fighters have shown mutual respect and appreciation for their fighting skills and prowess. While Carla is on a five-win streak, Rose is also on a three-fight winning streak. Therefore, when the two fighters, one of them will lose their winning streak.

Carla also believes that this fight will come full circle, from starting at “The Ultimate Fighter” to becoming the best fighters in the entire division. Naturally, Esparza and Rose are all set to go to war. All remains are the date and location.
