Rafael Fiziev returned to the Octagon at UFC Vegas 79 after suffering a defeat last time out against BMF Champion Justin Gaethje. In this 15-minute fight, the two champions fought glove for gove but Gathje had the last laugh with his onslaught of offenses. Fiziev then took on Mateusz Gamrot, who, on the other hand, carried the momentum from his UFC 285 victory against Jalin Turner. Nonetheless, the fight soon came to an abrupt end owing to a brutal injury.

Mateusz Gamrot took the fight against Rafael Fiziev on short notice, determined to show his prowess in the Octagon. This comes after ‘Gamer’ recently claimed that he was the best wrestler in the lightweight division. Gamrot also trained with the Polish national wrestling team before heading into UFC Vegas 79. However in a turn of events, ‘Ataman’ suffered a knee injury and fell to the ground, and the UFC pros and fans have a lot to say about it.

The lightweight main event ended abruptly at UFC Vegas 79

The fight started with both Rafael Fiziev and Mateusz Gamrot sizing each other up to make their move. However, ‘Ataman’ threw an impressive combination that even left the commentary team impressed. Likewise, Gamrot tried to take the 6th-ranked lightweight down, but Fiziev managed to avoid that predicament. Both fighters continued to trade strikes as the round came to an end with another takedown attempt from the Polish fighter.

Gamrot finally got the takedown in the second round, but both fighters got back up. They struggled a bit to get into a dominant position but resumed trading strikes again. Regardless, the fight ended abruptly after Rafael Fiziev tweaked his left knee while throwing a right-legged body kick at Gamrot.

Another fan claimed that Mateusz Gamrot’s win was not a legitimate one.

Meanwhile, some believe that Gamrot was on his way to losing the fight until that unfortunate injury took place.
