The BKFC fighter recently appeared on ‘The MMA Hour’ with Ariel Helwani and revealed some shocking news. He also discussed more about his debut for the Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship and his mindset going into it.

He told Ariel Helwani that he got paid more for his BKFC debut than he had for any of his UFC fights. During his tenure at the UFC, the fighter also took on the king of pay per views, Conor McGregor. Mendes confirmed he was paid more for his BKFC debut than his bout against McGregor.

The fighter made his UFC debut in 2011 and was a part of WEC before that. After suffering defeats from fighters like Jose Aldo, Alexander Volkanovski, and Conor McGregor, Mendes was released from the UFC.

Mendes spoke to Helwani about the pay he received when he was at the UFC and the contract he had signed with the promotion. He said, “When I signed that contract you know it was a good contract. It wasn’t great, but it was good, you know. And it’s just that from then until now it’s a bit outdated and I still have three fights on it. But you know it’s just where the sport was at that time.”
