The debate about 100 men fighting a single silverback gorilla has been sending fight fans into a frenzy. Every single fighter has shown commendable confidence against the gorilla. Merab Dvalishvili believed that he could take down the gorilla alone. Bo Nickal seemed to need just three of himself to achieve the feat. Conor McGregor, on the other hand, took a completely different approach and opted to fight on behalf of the gorilla. And as the noise around the 100v1 debate continued to rise, Chael Sonnen came up with his opinion on the scenario.

Talking to Daniel Cormier on the recent episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy, Chael Sonnen weighed in on the hypothetical matchup between a hundred unarmed men and one gorilla. Needless to say, ‘The American Gangster’ knew how strong silverbacks can be. After all, even someone like Mike Tyson was denied to face a silverback gorilla alone back in the 80s. Sonnen said, “I will just tell you this. You and I versus a gorilla, we’re probably not coming home that night, but we might. I would give Miss Britney a kiss. But I feel like we would be coming in the door. I don’t know, I don’t know what the gorilla’s cardio is. What is its heart like? Can it dig deep? Does the gorilla ever get a pick back?”

Sonnen pointed out that the fear around the scenario is stemming from the fact that it’s going to be a silverback gorilla. But there was no way that he was going to back down. Why? Because he had a strategy in store. He continued, “I don’t care if he’s got a stripe down his back. I’m gonna fight that gorilla. I’m gonna find his eyes, I’m gonna find testicles, I’m going to do dirty stuff, I’m gonna be on steroids, I’m gonna bring brass knuckles. You can’t trust me. I’ll stick the gorilla.”

Well, dirty fighting might ensure that ‘The Bad Guy’ returns home. But that doesn’t specify that he can perform well enough against the 600-pound beast. But do you know that Cory Sandhagen had a similar strategy against the gorilla?

Cory Sandhagen has a strategy similar to that of Chael Sonnen

During the UFC Des Moines media day, a reporter asked ‘Sandman’ about his stance on the hypothetical fight. After revealing that it was the first time someone asked him about it, Sandhagen said, “I definitely would need a hundred of me. But a hundred is kind of a lot. I don’t know how we’d win. My go-to would probably be a bunch of- trying to kick him in his nuts as many times as I could. And then probably poke him in the eye. Everything I could do that would be illegal in a fight, I’d probably try to do to the gorilla, and hopefully he wouldn’t rip and kill too many of myselves, I guess.”

On the other hand, Mikey Musumeci, the ONE Championship star, believed that a hundred unarmed men can definitely bring down a gorilla. However, quite a bit of the hundred would get sacrificed in the process. Nevertheless, the humans indeed had a chance against the gorilla, according to the BJJ whiz.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Chael Sonnen's dirty tactics really give him a fighting chance against a 600-pound silverback gorilla?

Have an interesting take?

According to a 20-year veteran in gorilla science, Tara Stoinski, humans can eventually wear out the silverback by prolonging the fight. On top of that, humans also have the ability to coordinate and cooperate, making them pretty formidable foes for the gorilla. Yes, even without super-strength and weapons, 100 humans can defeat a single silverback gorilla, as per the scientist.

Who is at the top of your list of 100 fighters going up against the silverback gorilla? Do you think Sonnen and Sandhagen can defeat the gorilla if they use unfair means? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
