Fighter turned ESPN Analyst, Chael Sonnen spoke out on his show alongside Jorge Serdano and sent out birthday wishes to Jon Jones. Sonnen and Jones have a storied rivalry that recently came to a head when ‘Bones’ blocked Sonnen on Twitter. Both men have exchanged many words over the years and things have gotten undeniably nasty at various points.

When wishing Jones, Sonnen made sure to point out that his wishes weren’t attached with their usual contentious sentiments. Furthermore, he went on to say that he wanted to see the ‘Jon Jones [heavyweight] experiment’ come to fruition. ‘Bones’ is yet to debut at heavyweight despite making his move-up official nearly a year ago.

“Hey, I can wish him a happy birthday. If I was to give him a birthday wish though and this might surprise you, I would not be my typical jerk of a self….Jon, I wish you could make up your mind. I must secretly be a little bit of a Jon Jones fan because I do miss seeing him compete.”

“I’m very interested in the Jon Jones experiment which is the great 205-pounder changing his physiology and going up to heavyweight. I like that. He’s in a little bit of a jam right now, he was supposed to be the number one contender and fight for a championship, we see that that isn’t going to happen in a reasonable period of time. I would like Jon to steer his attention to Stipe Miocic.”
