Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen has fired heavy artillery at Jon Jones in a renewed Twitter battle. ‘The American Gangster’ threw the kitchen sink at Jones after the latter called him out as a ‘known steroid user’. Chiefly, the genesis of this beef traces to an old rivalry of Jon Jones with Daniel Cormier regarding USADA violations.

Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones surprisingly picked up their bad blood for each other after a heated Twitter exchange. ‘Bones’ escalated matters when he made mention of Sonnen, who’s not one to shy away from a verbal sparring session. Moreover, this is not the first time Chael Sonnen and Jon Jones have engaged in a war of words with each other.

The aforementioned fighter had a run-in earlier on in their careers and Jones handily defeated Chael to retain his 205-pound title. For the time being, it seems as though Chael might have managed to secure a win in the trash-talking department. He was quick to hit back at Jones, who’s entire focus was centered towards ‘DC’.

‘The American Gangster’ reminded fans why he’s still looked at as one of the most prolific talkers in MMA, period. He has a natural gift of gab that’s gone a long way in elevating the profile of his career as a professional fighter. What’s more, he managed to climb the highest ranks in the UFC, securing three title shots in all. Not to mention, one of them came off the back of a loss.

For the uninitiated, Sonnen’s tweets refer to an incident involving ‘Bones’ Jones and a car-thief. A video recently circulated that saw Jon apprehend a man who was attempting to break into his vehicle. Jon chased off the individual with a shotgun and handed him to the police. Although the MMA community was taken up by this feat, it seems like Chael wasn’t too impressed.
