Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira came up with probably the best performance of his career, as he completely dominated Tony Ferguson for three rounds. Oliveira was a masterclass on the ground. He controlled “El Cucuy’ throughout, which began by him submitting his opponent in an armbar at the end of the first round.

‘Do Bronx’ has established himself as a top lightweight contender with that win, stretching his win-streak to 8. In the post-fight press conference, the Brazilian called out the winner of Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier 2, set to take place next month at UFC 257.

Oliveira also added that he believes Khabib will not come back to fighting. “Khabib swore on his father’s grave that he wasn’t gonna come back. So, when a man does that, I don’t think he’s gonna come back. Gaethje can go fight whoever, but I want the winner of Conor and Poirier.

“I have 8 wins in a row. & of them, I’ve finished the fights. I don’t let it go to the judge’s hands. I finish fights. I deserve I am in the position to be fighting for the belt.”

Oliveira has been on an 8 fight roll in the toughest division of the UFC. In seven of his eight fights, he has finished his opponents. He has kept it no secret that he wishes to fight for the title afterward. Clearly, he has made his case very prominent.

Conor McGregor is set to fight Dustin Poirier next month at UFC 257. And it seems like Justin Gaethje will be matched up against Michael Chandler for the latter’s promotional debut.

However, Oliveira is concentrating on the winner of McGregor and Poirier next. And with a performance like that over a division’s elite like Tony Ferguson, he has certainly made his case.

Whom Oliveira fights next remains to be seen. But his opponent will have a tough challenge in front of them with the kind of form he is in.

Should Oliveira fight McGregor or Poirier next? What do you think?
