The Brazilian crowd in Rio de Janeiro was completely in Charles Oliveira’s hands. They cheered every move he made on his way to registering a win over Mateusz Gamrot. Among the crowd was Charles Oliveira’s family as well, and when he decided to celebrate his win, ‘Do Bronxs’ did so by jumping over the Octagon fence and hugging his wife, children, and his father as well.

Initially, Charles Oliveira was hoping to celebrate his victory inside the Octagon with his family by his side. Many fighters have done this as the UFC grants permission to their families to enter the cage after the fight’s over. However, Oliveira wasn’t sure if the UFC was going to entertain his request for his family to join him and believed that he could face consequences for it. Instead, ‘Do Bronxs’ decided to make the jump out of the Octagon.
“It [jumping over the fence] might be silly, but the thing I wanted the most was to have my dad, my wife, and my kids up there,” said Charles Oliveira in the post-fight press conference. “I didn’t know if that was possible [or] if the UFC was going to get mad at hearing that. But I just wanted to jump into the crowd and be with them… I saw her come running towards me.”

The win at UFC Rio was not only a special moment for Oliveira but also for his comrade, Alex Pereira.

It was certainly a great couple of weeks for some of the top Brazilian stars in the UFC.
Charles Oliveira’s future now looks a bit tricky. Who does he fight now? There are calls for a Max Holloway rematch, which is guaranteed to be an action-packed matchup.
