Charles Oliveira leg injury

Oliveira’s childhood was marked by the diagnosis of abnormal heart murmurs and rheumatoid arthritis, conditions that had the potential to hinder his ability to live a normal life. However, his tenacity and determination proved to be his greatest assets.

In a conversation with MMAFighting, Oliveira’s mother, Ozana Oliveira, shared her perspective on the challenging situation. She recalled, “When the doctor informed us about my son’s condition and the possibility of him never being able to walk again, I firmly believed that God would intervene.” Undeterred by the seriousness of Oliveira’s ankle condition, which rendered it immobile, she expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank God my boss provided immense support by arranging for us to travel to Sao Paulo for further medical examinations.”

Why did Charles Oliveira pull out from UFC 288?

Charles Oliveira had to pull out from UFC 288 due to an unfortunate injury that hindered his ability to compete. The specific details surrounding his injury were not disclosed, but it dealt a major blow to Oliveira’s preparations for the fight against Beneil Dariush.

Charles Oliveira’s next fight

Charles Oliveira is gearing up to face Beneil Dariush in his next fight scheduled for June 10, 2023, at UFC 289: Nunes vs. Aldana in Canada, set to be broadcast on pay-per-view. However, the first fight between these two talented fighters has been unexpectedly canceled. Initially, they were supposed to square off at UFC 288, but unfortunately, Oliveira had to withdraw due to an injury.

Now, with this rescheduled fight, Charles Oliveira, also known as ‘Do Bronx’, will be determined to regain his momentum after his recent title loss against Islam Makhachev. Prior to that defeat, Oliveira had an impressive 11-fight winning streak, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the lightweight division. This fight serves as an opportunity for him to get back on track and prove that he is still a top contender. On the other hand, Beneil Dariush, the Iranian fighter, will be looking to further solidify his position and inch closer to a title shot. Dariush boasts an impressive 8-fight winning streak, showcasing his skills and tenacity inside the Octagon. He will bring his own set of strengths and techniques into the fight, aiming to capitalize on Oliveira’s recent setback and make a statement in the division.

Both fighters possess unique strengths and weaknesses. Charles Oliveira is renowned for his exceptional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills, often catching opponents in his deadly submissions. He is a versatile striker as well, with a wide array of striking techniques in his arsenal. However, his weakness lies in his vulnerability to powerful strikers who can exploit his defensive lapses.

Beneil Dariush, on the other hand, is known for his well-rounded skills. He possesses solid grappling and wrestling abilities, coupled with good striking technique. Dariush’s weakness, however, lies in his occasional over-aggressiveness, which can leave him susceptible to counterattacks.
