Gilbert Burns and Khamzat Chimaev will be seen clashing at UFC 273. This fight will be able to truly test Chimaev’s strength and skills as a fighter. Burns will be his first highly ranked opponent and thus, this ought to be a tough fight for him. With such an interesting fight on the line, UFC commentators Joe Rogan and Michael Bisping spoke about Chimaev’s skills.

Rogan said, “He’s only been striking for a few years. … When we see the way he knocked out Meerschaert, you’re like Jesus Christ! … There’s another video of him, when he was younger, where he knocked out a guy with an uppercut. Did you see that video? Oh, my god! It’s like one of the best uppercut KOs I’ve ever seen in my life.”

On the podcast, Rogan and Bisping then watch the video of that knockout. They admired how Chimaev not only threw a beautiful uppercut but also was ready to counter any punches. Thus, Bisping felt that ‘Borz’ was on defense right after throwing the punch.

Both of them also went on to speak about Chimaev’s Russian background. Rogan said, “These Chechens, man. They’re some fierce f***ing human beings. It’s a hard place.”

In a previous interview with ESPN MMA, the fighter had opened up about his life and childhood. Chimaev was born in Russia’s Chechnya. However, his family moved to Sweden because of the wars taking place back in Chechnya.

Alexander Volkanovski versus Chan Sung Jung will be the main event, whereas Aljamain Sterling versus Petr Yan will be the co-main event. Both these bouts will be for the title.

Burns versus Chimaev will happen on the main card. If Chimaev wins this bout, a title fight wouldn’t be that far.
