The former middleweight champion seems to be not in the mood to spare anyone as he is inching closer to the middleweight title. Both Whittaker and A͏͏l͏isk͏e͏r͏o͏v started the bout slowers as they were maintaining their distance reading their opponents. However, ‘The Reaper’ took the initiative to start the offensive as he commenced punding just moments after the silence.

Whittaker began throwing some heavy kicks that wobbled the Russian, marking the moment of reckoning for the former champion. ‘Reaper’ threw a combination of uppercut to A͏͏l͏isk͏e͏r͏o͏v to clinch the victory for himself. The round 1 knockout was another feather to Whittaker’s as experience and tenacity proved to be mighty. Robert Whittak͏er is now ͏͏3-2 in his last five fights, and with t͏his vi͏ctory, he has rightfully ͏e͏͏arned his spot as the ͏nex͏t con͏tender͏ for t͏he mid͏dleweight belt.

Regardless, his astounding victory caught the attention of the professional fighters as well as the community who were left awestruck. Here’s how some of the fans and fellow UFC fighters reacted:

While one fan was quick to take a dig at Khamzat Chimaev, for pulling out, deeming his illness as a mere excuse, “Chimaev saw what’s ahead and wanted none of that lmao. Such a fraud,” Rafael dos Anjos, a fellow UFC fighter who competes in the Welterweight and Lightweight divisions, chose to laud the veteran for his MMA prowess: “@robwhittakermma is a beast!! One of the best to do it #UFCSaudiArabia.”

His fans did not fail to notice the amazing throws, and so did Aljamain Sterling, who wrote, “Stunning right hand!!! What a finish!!”  Even ex-olympian and ex-champ Henry Cejudo followed suit, quickly focussing on the plight of Whittaker’s opponent: “BOBBY!!!! Whitaker put him on stilts!”

Another fan made an interesting deduction as to how ‘the uppercut’ has become A͏͏l͏isk͏e͏r͏o͏v’s worst nightmare, given that this move sealed his fate in defeat both against Chimaev, and now Whittaker: “Ikram Aliskerov’s WORST nightmare is an uppercut.. first Khamzat now Robert – the same exact uppercut that Khamzat slept him with.” Yes, that’s right! In a twisted tale of fate, A͏͏l͏isk͏e͏r͏o͏v has faced defeat at the hands of the same fighter he replaced, in 2019 at Brave CF 23.

And for the last pick, a fan was certain about Whittaker’s title run, which seemingly has been sealed by the amazing show he put in Saudi: “I would love to see him make a last run for the title.” In all probability, Whittaker will be next slated against the winner of Israel Adesanya vs. Dricus du Plessis, ensuring him a title run for the middleweight gold. Yet, even Sean Strickland is eager to climb up the ropes again and reclaim his lost glory, undeniably adding an extra layer of intrigue to the already sensational state of the division.

What’s your take on Whittaker’s tremendous victory, and who do you want to see donning the middleweight belt? State your thoughts in the comments below.
