Chrissy Blair: UFC’s Famous Ring Girl – Everything We Know About the Octagon Model

The UFC is famous for many things and many people. Some people become the highlight of the show and these are usually the fighters but let’s not forget the ring girls that grace the cage side adding to the glamor of the already amazing promotion.

One such famous model and Octagon girl of the UFC is none other than Chrissy Blair. The model has been with the UFC for some time now but she’s previously also been a ring girl for Strikeforce. Here’s how her career started unexpectedly after a contest.

Chrissy Blair’s early life

Chrissy Blair was born on the 5th of January in 1989 in the U.S. In an interview with MMA Junkie, Blair opened up about her early life and the way she had been before getting into modeling. She was studying in Florida’s Flagler College doing a degree in art and design when a friend dared her to participate in a modeling contest.

Not even taking it seriously, she went for it and ended up winning first place. Since then, her career as a model took off. She used to be a “beach babe” in her own words, not understanding much about fashion but after the contest, she would go on to get deals in Florida, Orlando, and even Milan. She even secured representation with Major Model Management New York.

She soon got signed on to Strikeforce and the second fight she worked for was none other than Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate. “. . . pretty much immediately after I came on with Strikeforce I was super into it.” She told MMA Junkie.

“I think my second fight I worked the Strikeforce was Ronda Rousey vs Miesha Tate and like I knew as soon as I saw her I was like ‘oh my god that girl’s like my role model’ and we, like me and the other octagon girl, both loved her and we watched her change history which was so cool.” Clearly, she had an attachment to Rousey and was not happy when she lost to Holly Holm.

How did Chrissy Blair join the UFC? After winning the 2011 Miss TransWorld Motocross modeling search, Blair guest starred at UFC 133. However later on, in 2013, she was officially signed by the promotion taking her away from Strikeforce.

Her very first big UFC event after her signing thus became The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale which went down on April 13th, 2013. She wasn’t the only one hired, her friend and fellow octagon girl Vanessa Hanson was also hired to become a new octagon girl with the UFC. Now, Blair is a mainstay for the promotion and is often seen gracing cage side at Fight Night events such as UFC 291, UFC Austin, and UFC 215 to name a few.

Her connection to MMA isn’t just that of being an Octagon girl though. She has previously spoken about how her grandfather was a boxer and would be so proud of her had he been alive. She had also taken MMA classes to understand the sport better and realized that its is just not kind to anyone and is rather difficult to master. It made her gain more respect for the sport and the fighters who put in so much work and effort to get to where they are.

What does Chrissy Blair do apart from being a UFC Octagon girl?

Chrissy Blair is an accomplished model as mentioned before. She has modeled with multiple agencies and has been to multiple places to give justice to her modeling contracts across the world. Apart from that, she was also a part of the FML Web Series that aired in 2013 where she played her namesake, Chrissy.

She has also been a part of another web series called Sh*tty Dates. The show only describes itself as “A new series showcasing the awkward, humiliating, hapless phenomenon of dating. ” She also played a side character of a Cart Girl on The Conor Moore Show in 2021.

She once detailed how going to New York to model puts her into a mental frame where she would like to watch her diet very carefully and that’s where being around MMA fighters comes in handy for her.

“. . .Whenever I go like to New York I definitely know like ‘okay need to watch my diet’ and I’ve actually sought out some advice from fighters before like ‘hey how can I drop like 10 pounds healthy?’ you know and they’ll tell me and it’s awesome, they’re so knowledgeable. . .”

Clearly, she has an understanding of the sport being an Octagon girl and is an avid observer. The UFC has invested in great talent for both fighters and other professionals and it just shows.
