Colby Covington may be one of the best trash-talkers on the current UFC roster. However, not everybody is a fan of what comes out of his mouth. Similarly, UFC light veteran Bobby Green once opened up about the problem he has with Covington’s trash talk to Joe Rogan in an episode of the million-dollar podcast, the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’.

‘Chaos’ has made a name for himself due to the inflammatory way of his trash talk. Nobody is exempted from the verbal attacks of the former interim champion. But not everybody is a fan of the way he targets people with his words. And Bobby Green had addressed this in the past. Let’s see what he had to say.

Bobby Green told Joe Rogan that Colby Covington reminded him of Chael Sonnen

The veteran lightweight fighter has no doubts about the talent of Colby Covington as a fighter. However, his way of talking trash to his opponents and other fighters reminds Bobby Green of the former UFC star and MMA legend, Chael Sonnen. He told Joe Rogan, “To be honest, he’s so talented and he reminds of of Chael [Sonnen]… where he had to use the mouthpiece to get more scene instead of his actual talent.”

However, Bobby Green was disappointed to see that people did not notice the caliber of Colby Covington as a credible MMA fighter. Instead, his trash-talking antics have taken over him to give a persona of a talker rather than a fighter. “He is a skilled fighter. It’s sad that he’s kind of painted it [that way],” ‘King’ Green added. Meanwhile, he also shared the difference between Covington and Chael Sonnen, when it comes to taking aim at their opponents.

Green stated that Covington’s trash talk is “offensive”

‘King’ further told Joe Rogan that whenever he saw Chael Sonnen rain down on his opponents with trash talk, he often made it a funny moment. That’s what made him an entertaining figure in MMA. Green said, “Chael did it in a great way. First, it was little ‘Ooh’ and nobody understood what he was doing. But Chael made it funny, Chael made it interesting.” But the same cannot be said for ‘Chaos’.

Colby Covington has a knack for throwing down the most vitriolic words on his opponents or anybody he dislikes. These words often end up crossing the line to such an extent that his fighters often develop disdain towards the former interim champion. “Colby doesn’t deliver the same way. It’s offensive, it’s hard to swallow,” added Bobby Green.
