However, ‘The Young Eagle’ has been unable to showcase his talents in the past year because of medical reasons. Nonetheless, the Dagestani is eyeing an explosive comeback, as revealed by his coach in a chat with Helen Yee.
“Yes, I didn’t know what was going on, but I think there was some miscommunication somehow or another. I don’t know in between negotiations or exactly what happens. The only thing I do know, is that the most important thing is that Umar does have a fight. It’s not Jack Shore, it’s another tough opponent,” said Mendez.
“Yet, I am not sure if they actually, it’s gonna be a tough opponent. I don’t know what it is yet. But it’s definitely gonna be somebody tough because Umar is that good. You know, I believe he is ‘Young Eagle’ for a reason and I believe ‘Young Eagle’ is gonna win the title also at some point later.”
Mendez also told Yee that Team Eagle will soon join the gym. “Yes, he does have a fight. He’s coming here this Sunday. They are all coming to train, Islam Makhachev, Umar, Tahir. You know, a bunch of other guys are coming.”
