Cody Garbrandt is scheduled to fight Rob Font in a bantamweight clash at UFC Fight Night: Font vs. Garbrandt. Ahead of the fight, Cody ‘No Love’ revealed that he wants a title fight against Deiveson Figueiredo as his next fight.

In an interview with ESPN MMA, the former UFC bantamweight champion said, “We’ll talk to Mick, John, Dana, and Ali and see. Like I am not instant, you know. I mean, I would rather kinda fight sooner. Since I am, you know, I just got out of camp, he is in camp.”

“The only reason I will be going to 25 is if I fight for the title and fight Deiveson Figueiredo. If he is still, you know, this unstoppable force, but he looks very stoppable in the last fight.”

To fight ‘Deus da Guerra’ Garbrandt would have to shed more pounds than he ever has for a UFC fight.

Cody Garbrandt on weight cut for the flyweight division

Many fighters in the UFC face weight cut issues if they decide to step down a weight division. As Garbrandt fights in the bantamweight division, it means he will be stepping down a weight class to fight in the flyweight division. However, ‘No Love’ believes that the weight cut won’t be an issue for him.

The former champ said – “Not that I am gonna say names but there are a lot of 125 pounders for a fact that are bigger than me. They walk around more than me, weight wise. So, it’s not an issue about making the weight, they won’t be. That’s just about dedication, sacrifice, and dieting for 8 weeks to do that.”
