The Ultimate Fighter 33 already appears to be one of the most entertaining seasons yet, and Colby Covington may be aiming to inject even more mayhem into the mix. With Chael Sonnen and Daniel Cormier set to coach opposing sides, the 36-year-old posted a cryptic Instagram post hinting at his involvement. But how is he a part of the show? Will there be a third team in the mix?

The former interim welterweight champion posted a photo with the caption, “Heading to Las Vegas for Season 20 of @ultimatefighter and you know there’s only 1 way to travel and that’s with @heraflight! No exit rows bratha!” While he did not clarify his exact involvement, his presence at the show certainly suggests that he will be participating in the upcoming season in some form. the 36-year-old’s close relationship with Sonnen has fueled anticipation that he will join as an assistant coach.

Sonnen has long been a mentor to ‘Chaos,’ shaping his persona, trash-talking skills, and ability to get under his opponents’ skins. With ‘The Bad Guy’ heading one side, it’s hardly unexpected that Colby Covington is in his corner. If true, this would create a high-energy dynamic between the teams, with Covington’s presence simply raising the intensity of the game. Given his history with Daniel Cormier, Covington’s involvement would undoubtedly elevate TUF 33 to the level of must-see television.

In addition to coaching rumors with Chael Sonnen, ‘Chaos’ made a subtle reference to an old rivalry. His final comment, “No exit rows, bratha!” seemed to be a direct reference to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s recent flying incident, in which the Dagestani legend refused to shift seats on a Frontier Airlines flight and was removed. The UFC fighter has never hidden his dislike for ‘The Eagle,’ frequently criticizing him for retiring early and refusing to fight him. By including this subtle jibe in his post, the 36-year-old reminded the MMA world of his long-standing disdain for the undefeated former lightweight champion. But while Nurmagomedov has already retired, which UFC fighter will Colby Covington face next?

Colby Covington reveals the next opponent in mind

Colby Covington and Sean Strickland, two of today’s most controversial fighters, could face off in the UFC Octagon in the near future. That is, of course, if ‘Chaos’ decides to move from the welterweight division, where he became the organization’s interim champion, to the middleweight division, where ‘Tarzan’ competes. The 36-year-old is now in the midst of the worst phase in his career, having lost four of his past six fights. Three of these were UFC 170-pound title fights. As a result, the loudmouth American dropped in the category standings to ninth place, and his hopes of becoming welterweight champion were greatly diminished. As a result, ‘Chaos’ began to consider a change of environment in order to revitalize his career.

Colby Covington confessed in an interview with ‘Submission Radio’ that he is already considering moving up a category and has even chosen his major target. So, who is it? None other than former champion Sean Strickland. The former Interim UFC welterweight champion said, “The Sean Strickland fight is always interesting. He’s had things to say about me in the past. I don’t think he’s anything special. He’s got a jab, he’s got a front kick. But you shut those things down, he’s very limited. He’s a cardio fighter. He’s just a cardio kickboxer, essentially. I don’t see any threats out of Sean Strickland. It’s an entertaining fight that I might entertain in the future. We’ll see.”

It is worth noting that they both are known for their controversial opinions and statements outside the Octagon. To make matters more interesting, Colby Covington and ‘Suga’ are longtime enemies. Despite some similarities, such as belonging to the same political current, the two have publicly declared their dislike for one other, and ‘Chaos’ has now even shown interest in facing Strickland inside the Octagon. However, for now, he will be just showing his support to Chael Sonnen against Daniel Cormier. But what do you think? Will the fight between ‘Chaos’ and Sean Strickland get booked by Dana White?
