Colby Covington had a strategy in mind

Covington is one of the UFC’s most proficient trash talkers. That much is already known. So was it surprising when he called out the lightweight champion whilst preparing to fight Edwards? Yes and no. Anyone in range could be on Covington’s radar. It just so happened to be that Makhachev was an easy target because a fight with him would be difficult to arrange with the weight difference.

“He ain’t really going to come out here and fight. He’s another guy that he’s going to run his mouth, try and hype up a fight, but he’s never going to actually step up and do it.” Covington had said when Makhachev expressed his desire to be a dual division champ. Now, Chael Sonnen believes he knows what the callout was all about.

Covington’s preparations are in order

Recently, Colby Covington took to his socials to show the fans how he’s been preparing for the fight outside of sparring and training. The fighter went to find some motivation and morale boost by meeting his idol, former president of the US, Donald Trump.
