Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal was one of the most anticipated fights of 2022. The build-up to the fight left fans ecstatic, and the result was no less. After a dominant performance by Colby Covington with his win over Jorge Masvidal, fight fans were more or less satisfied by the outcome.

However, after their performances at UFC 272, Covington had plans for celebrations. An after-party for victors is a standard ritual. Given Covington’s outgoing personality, it is no surprise that he would be partying hard after a significant win.

Terming it as Masvidal’s “Retirement party,” the welterweight firmly seems to believe that his old teammate is now out of the game and should just quit.

What’s next for Covington?

Covington remains the second-best welterweight in the world behind Kamaru Usman. His recent win over Jorge Masvidal puts him back in the rat race to fight for the title.

This, although, might not happen immediately right now as Covington could possibly fight the winner of Gilbert Burns vs. Khamzat Chimaev. If he successfully beats either one, it automatically lines him up toward the title shot once more.

Covington facing Usman once more will make it their trilogy fight. As of right now, Dana White is unsure as to what might happen to Covington and Masvidal post-UFC 272.
