Ian Garry has found himself involved in a feud with Sean Strickland recently. The initial sparks of animosity between Garry and Strickland ignited on social media platforms, where the fighters exchanged verbal blows for a fortnight. However, it seems that it’s not just Strickland who has something to say about Garry!

During the UFC 296 pre-fight press conference, Colby Covington was asked that he had claimed he had “something up his sleeve” for Ian Garry and was asked to explain more about what he had planned.

Covington, supremely confident as always, responded by stating, “I was going to teach him a lesson you know, just like I taught Leon a lesson. You don’t cross the boss, he tried to cross the boss and call the shots and he couldn’t do it. The same lesson I’m gonna teach to Ian, you don’t make a h** a housewife.”

His controversial remarks during the press conference, targeting not only Edwards but also Ian Garry, showcased Covington’s willingness to stir the pot and get to the headlines.

As the tension builds, fans can anticipate a spectacle in and out of the octagon, where Covington’s words and actions are sure to leave a lasting impression on the welterweight division. And ‘Chaos’ has also disclosed his motivations and goals for his clash against Leon Edwards in a recent interview!

Covington doesn’t want the judges to decide his fate against ‘Rocky’

Colby Covington, set to face Leon Edwards at UFC 296, is determined to avoid leaving the decision in the hands of judges, fueled by his dissatisfaction with past welterweight title defeats against Kamaru Usman.

In an interview with TNT sports, he revealed, “I feel like I need to go to a different level that I haven’t been to before and can’t let the judge or referee be in control of my own destiny. I need to create my own destiny.”

Covington emphasized his maturity since those losses, asserting he doesn’t view them as defeats and expressing a desire to settle the trilogy with Usman in the future. He also raised concerns about Edwards’ alleged in-octagon antics, claiming the Brit engages in rule-bending and cheating. Covington asserted he’s prepared for this and hopes to face the best version of Edwards on fight night.

This match also marks Covington’s return to competition since defeating Jorge Masvidal in March 2022 at UFC 272. As UFC 296 approaches, Covington’s determination to control his destiny and settle past grievances adds an extra layer of anticipation to the welterweight clash against Leon Edwards.
