There is no shortage of banter and humor for the fans when it comes to the UFC. Especially for the journalists, who get to witness all the trash-talking firsthand. It is one of the major attractions for UFC fans and has helped build hype around many fighters like Conor McGregor, Colby Covington, and Nate Diaz.

Although, sometimes, this banter goes below the belt and transforms into personal attacks on their opponents. Similarly, the former interim UFC welterweight champion, Colby Covington, recently left a UFC journalist astounded with some of his trash talk.

After hearing what ‘Chaos’ had to say about his arch-rival Dustin Poirier and his wife, it was none other than the renowned UFC Journalist Laura Sanko, who was left speechless.

Covington had a backstage interview with Laura Sanko following his victory over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. When asked about his rivalry with Poirier, Covington went on a cold minute-long rant attacking the 33-year-old.

“He’s got all these stipulations. I only got one stipulation; let the whole world watch. It doesn’t have to be in an octagon. We can go to a park. We can do it,” said Covington.

And right after that, he made a personal remark about Poirier’s wife. He added, “Let the whole world watch it and let them enjoy themselves, kind of like what Dustin does when Conor [McGregor] is in bed with his wife.”

Colby Covington calls out Dustin Poirier at UFC 272

It is no secret that Colby Covington doesn’t like his former American Top Team buddies. Out of whom, ‘Chaos’ recently fought his biggest, former teammate turned rival, Jorge Masvidal, in the UFC 272 main event.

While settling things with Masvidal, the 34-year-old fighter reestablished his takedown supremacy as well as his resilience. As the fight went into five rounds, Covington made sure he maintained a top position throughout the later rounds. Despite Masvidal throwing some good strikes to the jaw, he couldn’t establish dominance over ‘Chaos.’

After defeating Masvidal via unanimous decision, Covington made it clear that he wants Dustin Poirier next by calling ‘The Diamond’ out in his octagon interview.

Akin to Masvidal, Covington dislikes his former ATT teammate Dustin Poirier. The two former teammates have a deeply personal rivalry going back to the time spent together at the gym. ‘The Diamond,’ though, made a cryptic response in his tweet, following UFC 272 call-out by ‘Chaos.’

It will be interesting to see if the UFC books this match.
