The conflict between Bo Nickal and Jamie Pickett has seemingly been resolved. During the events of UFC 285, Nickal arguably hit his opponent with a groin shot. However, the fight turned in favor of the ‘American Khabib’. But, Pickett’s team didn’t rest well with the outcome of the fight. Pickett’s rep, LaMont Chappell, went ahead and informed the media that he would appeal to the Nevada State Athletic Commission for overturning the outcome of the fight to a no-contest.

However, the request was turned down after the revelation of certain regulations. The spokesperson for NAC recently revealed that Pickett’s team was notified about what qualifies an appeal to proceed. Thereafter, Chappell disclosed that Pickett would not file an appeal to change the result. Without a doubt, the fans were not happy with the news.

Although initially, Chappell was highly enthusiastic about appealing to the NAC to overturn the outcome of Pickett’s fight against Nickal, the situations have apparently quieted the heat now. Recently, the NAC spokesperson, Frankie Mason, pointed out that a result can be overturned if the appeal fulfilled one of three reasons, as reported by MMA Junkie.

The reasons were:

  1. The Commission determines that there was collusion affecting the result of the contest or exhibition
  2. The compilation of the scorecards of the judges discloses an error, which shows that the decision was given to the wrong unarmed combatant; or
  3. As the result of an error in interpreting a provision of this chapter, the referee has rendered an incorrect decision.

Thereafter, a disappointed Chappell talked to MMA Junkie and hoped that the bylaws of the appeal to be revisited in the future. Finally, it was revealed that Pickett would no longer opt to file an appeal against the UFC 285 outcome.

Here is what the fans said:

  • Commissions never overturn wins unless a guy was caught using PEDs lol
  • Surprise, surprise.
  • No s**t. You the commissions rarely accept fault but definitely not in the case of a -1500 favorite winning. Either way who cares tho for real Bo Nickal was gunna whoop Pickett no matter what
  • Appeals never work no matter how valid. I really just wish Bo would quit denying it happened when we all saw it. Just own up to it. It happened and it sucks, but oh well.
