As the first UFC event of the year dawns upon us, UFC President Dana White has announced more good news for the fans. The UFC head honcho addressed the alarming pandemic situation but also stressed the fact that it is now going back to normal.

With that said, White announced his plans to go back to the O2 arena in London after almost 3 years.

Speaking with Adam Catterall of BT Sports, White said, “I feel like a lot of this silliness is starting to go away. I think common sense is starting to prevail, finally. And uh I am hoping that this year, we are going to come to the U.K. We are going to go to other cities that we haven’t been to in a long time. Hopefully, more out-of-the-country events. So, I am hoping 2022 is going to be the year. I am feeling it.”

“I’d like to announce in the next couple of weeks that we’re coming back to the U.K. and we’re gonna go to The O2 and put on a great show for you guys. And we’re working on big things for the U.K. I am actually excited about the U.K. U.K. is one of the territories I am really excited about and haven’t been this excited about it since 2003.”

The UFC held their last MMA event in London back in 2019. On that card, welterweights Jorge Masvidal and Darren Till fought in the main event. However, as the pandemic engulfed the world, the scheduled Woodley vs Edwards fight card in London was one of the first cancelations of 2020.

Dana White content with Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns bout

In the same interview, the host asked Dana White if he would entertain the idea of Khamzat Chimaev taking on Gilbert Burns. Catterall took up the question as both of the elite welterweights had previously decided to fight each other owing to a verbal agreement.
