It might be time to seriously worry about BJ Penn. The former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion, once known for his legendary grit inside the Octagon, is now making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Remember that disturbing Mother’s Day post? Penn unleashed a wild rant accusing his own mother of having a fake identity—laced with profanity, bizarre conspiracy theories, and a torrent of accusations that raised eyebrows across the MMA world. It appears that it was a cry for help, or worse. Now, just weeks later, things have escalated. Penn has reportedly been arrested at his home by multiple police officers. The exact reason for the arrest hasn’t been confirmed, but the troubling trend is hard to ignore.

What happened? BJ Penn’s latest Instagram post is unsettling, as it shows the UFC legend lying in bed while surrounded by several police officers asking him to come with them to the station. In the video, Penn appears reluctant to comply, demanding to know the reason for his arrest. One of the officers eventually mentions “harassment,” prompting Penn to respond that anyone could have falsely accused him.

Penn asked his friend to record everything for the record. The video further suggests that his cousin might be behind the commotion, as they may be trying to steal BJ Penn’s money. “My cousin, federal agent Jade Maile Hanaoka, is doing anything she can to throw BJ Penn in prison to steal BJ Penn’s family fortune.”

Despite Penn’s resistance, he was escorted out of his home in handcuffs. According to the arrest records, he was officially charged with “abuse of a family or household member: offensive physical contact.” Penn posted a $2,000 bail and was released, with a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday, May 27. Penn’s video also included lengthy captions describing how his family members are impersonating and faking their identities and how all of them want to frame him for something heinous.

Earlier, BJ Penn claimed that his mother, as well as his two brothers, had their identities stolen by federal agents, and now he has accused his cousin of impersonating his mother. In addition to that, he has accused his high-school girlfriend of stealing from him during the arrest.

Brendan Schaub believes BJ Penn is in dire need of help

Brendan Schaub is one of the few individuals BJ Penn has accused of faking his identity. Penn claims that the former UFC heavyweight is actually the late NFL player Aaron Hernandez. Reacting to these accusations, Schaub in one of his podcasts stated, “I love B.J. It never hurts my feelings. I don’t take any of it personal, ever. People love the drama in MMA, s–t like that, so I was like, all right, whatever. And I put a laughing emoji. Then ‘Mayhem’ Miller reached out to me. He was like, ‘Dude, this isn’t a joke.’ Like, he legit thinks you’re Aaron Hernandez. I was like, ‘Oh… oh, well, you took the wind out of my sails. Like that’s not funny anymore. That’s not fun.”

Concerns should be raised for B.J. Penn, considering that the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion has been going through some a rough patch in his life. In the same podcast, Brendan Schaub urged Penn to seek help from the proper authorities. “With B.J.’s stuff, I’ve never had fun with it. It was always like, this dude needs help. This doesn’t end well. It’s a shame to see. He’s a legend. So it just takes all the fun out of it.

He further added, “You know, this isn’t something to mess around with. If he thinks I’m Hernandez… that edit was probably their best editing job yet. It’s pretty good. Our faces are a tad different. I do see the similarities, people make that comparison all the time.” In the end, BJ Penn’s downfall is a reflection of the harsh reality of this sport. CTE, brain damage, and years of trauma have finally caught up with the legend. Given that, what is your opinion on BJ Penn and his episodes? State your thoughts in the comments below.
