Michael Chandler is one of the most popular names in the UFC Lightweight division. The former Bellator lightweight champion had a fantastic UFC debut, as he defeated Dan Hooker in the first round via TKO.
The UFC lightweight division has a plethora of outstanding fighters, and Chandler was recently talking about two of the best in the division. ‘Iron’ was talking about why he has taken shots at Dustin Poirier and not Conor McGregor.
“No man, truth be told, this is a lightweight division full of guys right and Conor has not said one negative thing about me. Conor really hasn’t said my name at all. Not that it’s a good thing or a bad thing.”

‘Notorious’ is known for his outspoken personality and loves to take shots at various fighters. Although Chandler is right in saying that McGregor has till now not said anything about ‘Iron’. The same cannot be said about McGregor’s opponent though, as Poirier has been vocal about Chandler.
“Poirier has, and that’s fine if he can have his opinion of me, I haven’t earned it or he’d rather sell hot sauce than fight me for the title, or its fools gold if we win or whatever, I’m a company guy and whatnot, so it was more directed at him because he’s been the guy who’s kind of said the most.”
The reason given by Chandler is quite understandable as he took shots at Poirier because the latter spoke about him first.
What’s next for Michael Chandler?
After an impressive performance in his first match, Chandler is all set to face Charles Oliveira in his next fight. The two fighters are going to meet at UFC 262 on May 16, 2021.

This fight is going to be a great test for Chandler, as Oliveira has been in dominant form winning his last eight fights, five of them via submission.
This fight is really important regarding the Lightweight division as well, as whoever wins the fight will have a great shot at a title opportunity. Both the fighters are in great form, and it would be interesting to see how the two perform inside the Octagon.
