Joe Rogan has been around the UFC from around the time the cage was built. He has been associated with the promotion since its hay days and in fact, he was the man to really start bringing the spotlight to MMA and the UFC. The point is, Rogan has seen a lot.

And by a lot, we mean he’s seen a lot of fighters. And for him, one man stands out when it comes to dragging an opponent through the mud. And that is none other than the real ‘American Gangster’ Chael Sonnen. And Rogan is pretty much on the money too.

“Chael’s good at talking sh*t.” said Rogan during a Fight Companion episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. “I mean, that guy revolutionized sh*t talking in MMA. He was ‘THE’ guy. There was no (one else) ‘Anderson Silva, you absolutley suck,’ remember that? What? Anderson was the man and Chael Sonnen is standing in the middle of the Octagon saying he sucks like it was incredible. He did it totally different.”

Sonnen truly did start the era of as Rogan said “talking sh*t” to sell his fights. Let’s face it, selling the fight is a big part of the sport. Sonnen knew exactly how to sell his fights, and it was by overwhelming his opponent with his words. Here’s the other things Rogan discussed about Sonnen during the episode.

If the comedian is to be believed, he texted Sonnen about it and the former fighter responded saying he’s got to do something when there’s a little bit of “off season.” Clearly, a man of many talents who still makes a lot of money with the way he can convey messages to his audience. Perhaps Sonnen would be amazing in the commentary desk right next to Rogan. What are your thoughts about it?
