Conor McGregor and Fans React to Mayweather Production’s CEO’s Interest in a Rematch: “Nobody Wants That”

When Conor McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017, the event drew huge crowds. The fight was termed The Biggest Fight in the history of combat sports. Reports suggest that Floyd Mayweather took over $280 million as a fight purse while Conor McGregor made a huge sum of $130 million despite losing. Leonard Ellerbe who is the CEO of the company that produced the event has shown his interest in making a second edition of the event.

Ellerbe is the CEO of Mayweather Productions that’s owned by Floyd Mayweather Jr. He said he had all the love for the UFC and its president Dana White and remembered how big the first event was. Fans, however, didn’t look too excited about the big boy match-up.
Fans say no to Rematch
Combat sports fans had blessed the revenue counter when Floyd Mayweather took on Conor McGregor. Mayweather was at 49 wins being undefeated and Conor McGregor was the biggest UFC star. The fight attracted a huge following and rivaled the collections of Mayweather vs Pacquiao. This time fans didn’t look too excited to watch the two fight.
A fan commented, “The event itself was amazing. But it won’t come close to beating the records they set with it. Same with Manny vs Floyd 2. The numbers won’t match the original“. Another user suggested that the result of the fight may not be too different from the first fight. The comment said, “Floyd would easily humiliate that little McHobbit again just stop”. The idea wasn’t appealing to too many fans. A user wrote, “This guy is delusional. That event was nothing but a cash grab. He must be running low or something.”

Conor McGregor’s return to UFC is highly awaited
Conor McGregor fans are not interested in any side quests right now. All they want is to see their superstar make a proper comeback in the UFC. Conor McGregor has been away from fighting since UFC 264. He has been working on healing the nasty injury to his leg that has kept him away from the UFC.
Conor McGregor has finished shooting for The Ultimate Fighter season 31, and fans are hoping to see him take on opposition coach Michael Chandler at some point this year.
