Conor McGregor Calling the Shots Diffuses Michael Chandler’s Hope for PPV Points, Daniel Cormier Explains

UFC 303 will finally witness the return of Conor McGregor against Michael Chandler. The pair have been waiting desperately to take on each other for some time now. However, the fight never materialized because of multiple reasons. After waiting patiently for years, the fans will finally witness the much-anticipated fight.

Daniel Cormier and Ben Askren recently sat down to discuss their fight. Both ‘DC’ and Askren shared their opinions about the battle at UFC 303. During the conversation, the former UFC champion pointed out as to why Chandler has not yet received the PPV points from the UFC.

‘Mystic Mac’ is without a doubt one of the biggest superstars in the UFC. He was out of action for more than three years because of his leg injury. However, the wait is finally over as he will be seen at the International Fight Week (June 29). Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier in his recent YouTube video cleared as to why Chandler is not the main attraction in the fight. The 37-year-old is yet to receive his pay-per-view points from the UFC and Cormier has the perfect answer for it.

While speaking to Askren, Cormier said, “I don’t know why would you give pay-per-view points to someone that’s not going to drive the sales. And this not me Hayden on Mike. He’s not driving the sales on this one right.” He further added, “When you fight Conor McGregor Conor’s driving the sales. He’s obviously gonna be a part of the pay-per-view and part of the business. Yes because Mike’s still ranked in the top five or six in the world. So yeah of course he’s compelling. But ultimately this one feels like it’s about McGregor. And part of that reason is because Conor continues to tell you how he’s making all these decisions. And essentially telling Mike we’re doing this we’re doing this. “

Daniel Cormier seems to be very clear about who’s going to run the fight at UFC 303. According to the former champion UFC 303 is all about McGregor and his comeback. Although Chandler is yet to receive his PPV points, in his recent interview he seemed very confident of breaking records.

The rivalry between Chandler and McGregor is without a doubt one of the the most talked about rivalries in the UFC. Both fighters have been waiting to lay hands on each other for quite some time now. ‘Iron’ now feels that the rivalry can break many past records. In his recent interview with Ariel Helwani the 37-year-old shared his plan before the fight. Chandler said, “This is a big fight, man. I mean, and I will argue, and this is no disrespect, but we wanna break that peak number, alright? 2.4 million. 

He further added, That was huge, you know, the animosity, and you know, the biggest Muslim fighter in the world, and it had the making of doing that kind of number. But this one, Conor’s comeback. We have 73 days to build this thing,” Chandler is eyeing to break the record of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor in his UFC 303 fight.
