Conor McGregor could be facing an 18-month suspension period, but he’s expected to be available by the time the UFC White House event takes place. Scheduled to take place on President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, speculation has taken shape about who his potential opponent will be. And guess what? Veteran Josh Thomson claims McGregor’s addition to the White House card could see the omission of another fighter.

Conor McGregor has insisted that he’s going to do right by Michael Chandler and fight him in his comeback fight. However, Josh Thomson believes that the stakes could be higher at the White House, so ‘Iron’ may not make the cut. In fact, there’s a chance that McGregor ends up fighting for the BMF title. Here’s what Thomason had to say.

Conor McGregor to steal Charles Oliveira’s rematch chance against Max Holloway? Veteran explains

Charles Oliveira’s dominant comeback last weekend against Mateusz Gamrot saw fans calling for a rematch against Max Holloway. ‘Do Bronxs’ also wants that fight, and according to Josh Thomson, this is quite an interesting matchup for Dana White and Co. to consider for the White House. “You can never count Max out. That’s just how it goes. I don’t ever really count Charles out either. So, it makes for a very good fight, and I like that fight. I wanna see that fight,” Thomson said on the Weighing In podcast.

The last time Dana White said he’d blow the minds of the fans with a UFC event was last year at the Sphere in Las Vegas. While the venue blew everyone away, the fight card failed to do so. So, White will try to make the right decision this time for the White House and may decide to pit Conor McGregor against Max Holloway with the BMF title on the line, a title that the Irishman has expressed his desire to fight for.

“Charles asked for that fight. Max is going to be unavailable until 2026. I think Charles won’t fight again until 2026… I think Charles Oliveira vs Max Holloway [is] another great fight… unless there’s gonna be a Max Holloway vs Conor McGregor at the White House,” Josh Thomson added. “Then we just take a step back, and we let Max Holloway do his thing against Conor McGregor for the BMF title at the White House.”

Well, this will leave Charles Oliveira without an exciting fight to look forward to since he doesn’t have a chance of getting a title shot anytime soon. On the other hand, if the Brazilian star wants the rematch very badly, he may have to agree to a condition that Max Holloway has set for him.

Holloway will fight Oliveira only on his terms

Max Holloway, who claims not to have watched the UFC Rio main event last weekend, has no issues fighting his former rival once again. He will put his BMF title on the line, but refuses to put it up for grabs at a UFC event in Brazil, especially in Rio de Janeiro. Instead, Holloway wants Oliveira to fight on his turf, in the United States. Only then will he accept the call-out.

“Charles’ performance? I didn’t watch it. I just got the clip of him calling me out. The only way to announce that is another one. Let’s go,” the BMF champion said during a Kick live stream“No, I’m not f—ing going to Rio. Fight in Las Vegas or something. We fight on my terms. We fight on my terms, brother. We went to Rio, we did that with the ‘King of Rio.’ Now it’s my turn to have a say.”
