Conor McGregor is back to his bold Twitter antics after the electrifying UFC 290 PPV. Although the Notorious was not physically present in attendance, he surely had his eyes set on all fights. Moreover, the Irishman had a lot of say about many exciting fights on the PPV card.

McGregor paid tribute to the now-retired Robbie Lawler. Moreover, he even gave his return update while the UFC 290 PPV was going on. But one of the most interesting tweets by the former UFC champ was about the featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

Conor McGregor disses Alexander Volkanovski after a thrilling main event

Volkanovski was able to dominate his main event fight against Yair Rodriguez for 3 rounds before finishing it via TKO. Seeing this, the world was in awe of the spectacular skills of the champ. However, former featherweight champion Conor McGregor did not look impressed.

Although the Notorious did not directly say anything about the fight, he took an indirect diss at ‘The Great’. Just after the main event ended, McGregor tweeted – “Is that volkonovski guy a polish lad?” Apparently, McGregor wanted his tweet to sound like he did not know much about Volkanovski, degrading the champ’s importance in his eyes.

While the featherweight hails from Greek and Macedonian origins, it is a well-known fact that he is Australian. Moreover, McGregor even spelled his name wrong. The tweet spread like wildfire, gathering more than 10,000 likes within hours. Further, it is not even the first time that the Notorious and the Great have indulged in Twitter back-and-forths. The two have had several social media exchanges in the past.

When Alexander Volkanovski showed interest in a fight against Conor McGregor

Appearing in the MMA Fan Podcast a month ago, Alexander Volkanovski talked about one UFC name that he would want to fight. Without hesitation, the Australian named Conor McGregor.

“The only champ I haven’t fought in the featherweight division is Conor McGregor. And Conor McGregor in his prime in the featherweight division, would obviously be an all-time. I’m sure everyone would want to see that right now.”
