‘The Highlight’ Justin Gaethje has become the talk of the town ever since Charles Oliveira defeated Dustin Poirier at UFC 269. As ‘The Diamond’ slipped down the rankings, it was Gaethje who replaced him to earn the right to be ‘Do Bronx’s next challenger.

However, it seems like the pathway isn’t clear for the #1 contender as of yet, with the fear of Conor McGregor‘s return looming over the 155-pounds weight class. Speaking with Caroline Pearce of BT Sport, the former UFC interim lightweight champion went off on the journalists who keep bringing up this ‘story’.

“I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about it. The only reason it’s even almost [an issue] is because you guys keep asking about it, you guys keep talking about it. You’re really just doing your job and it’s just to create a story,” Gaethje stated.

“He’s irrelevant right now. He’s got a broken leg and with that question, you have to question the integrity. You, as a journalist, have to stand behind it and you know that it should never happen and you should do everything to keep it from happening.”

In the same conversation with BT Sport, ‘The Highlight Reel’ Justin Gaethje stated he would ideally prefer to take on the lightweight champ in Brazil. Charles Oliveira is a native of Brazil and Gaethje made the request keeping that fact in mind as he wants the ‘Chaos’.

“There’s a card May 7, I want to fight the Brazilian champ in Brazil. I want the chaos,” Gaethje claimed.
