Conor McGregor favors Brazilian star in UFC 280 title bout

In a recent Q&A with fans on Twitter, McGregor made his pick for the UFC 280 main event. During his interaction, a fan asked who he was backing to win at UFC 280 and the ‘Notorious’ picked the Brazilian, Charles Oliveira, over the Dagestani, Islam Makhachev.

McGregor’s prediction should not come as a surprise considering his rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The bad blood between the pair remains the same to this day. Hence, it would have been news if McGregor backed Nurmagomedov’s teammate Islam Makhachev to walk away with the title.

Will we see McGregor vs. Oliveira down the line?

Charles Oliveira has repeatedly expressed his interest in a money fight against ‘The Notorious’. When Oliveira had the belt, he publicly stated that he wanted to put it up against McGregor. Prior to the Makhachev fight, Oliveira openly expressed interest in facing ‘Notorious’ in Brazil, preferably in January.

McGregor, who has been sidelined since the injury at UFC 264, has also been talking about a title fight. He might have faced Oliveira for the title if he had beaten Dustin Poirier. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The horrific leg break sent the former ‘champ champ’ to another long layoff.
