In the initial round, Saint-Denis seems to have overpowered Poirier with body blows and elbows. ‘Diamond’ even attempted a guillotine choke on him but failed in his attempt. The impressive striking got the attention of former dual weight champion and Poirier’s former rival Conor McGregor. ‘Mystic Mac’ took to his X (Formerly Twitter) handle to let go of their rivalry and appreciate Poirier. McGregor was brutally injured in that match and the impact of that leg injury is still evident today.
